We have an event calendar that makes it easy to find out what library programs and events are happening near you. From the ACPL Home Page, click on Programs. Choose to narrow down by location, age level or category and check out all the great stuff going on at ACPL.
Why, visit other libraries, of course! While on my vacation last week, I had the good fortune to visit the Rochester Hills Public Library in Michigan. Rochester Hills is a little town near Troy, a suburb of Detroit. The librarians there were very nice and let me take photographs of their library. Here are a few shots of things that I saw and liked or thought interesting:

1. Lisa relaxes in cool seating in the teen area.
2. You can “check out” tickets for free admission to multiple Detroit museums. This one is for 4 free admissions to the Detroit Historical Museum. How cool is that?
3. The library has different return boxes for different types of material.
4. Lisa in the children’s department, which had pillars decorated like giant crayons and labeled with the subject headings that could be found in that area.
5. Their self checkout machines can be used in 4 different languages – English, Spanish, Russian, and Tamil.
Please join us in the meeting room from 5-8:30 tonight for our annual African American Read-in. Take a turn at reading works by African American authors or just stop in to listen to others. Author Charles Cush will be on hand to read his children’s book, From Acorns to Oak Trees, and his book will also be available for purchase.

Don’t miss Sit & Stitch, one of our most popular programs at the Pontiac branch! Sit & Stitch meets every Thursday from 4:30 – 6:00 pm in the large meeting room. People of all knitting skill level are invited. If you’re new to knitting, Miss LaDonna can get you going with some needles and yarn.
We are hoping to use this site as a means of communicating with our library patrons, and we’re bringing it right to you. This site will now be the landing page when you open the Internet on Pontiac branch computers, and here you can find information on programs going on in our branch, book reviews, community information, and other tidbits to keep you in the know.
We got this idea from the Grabill Branch, another branch in the Allen County Public Library system. That branch has had much success with their site, and you can take a look at it here .
