Join us this afternoon (TUESDAY, September 16) for Teen Café. The annual ACPL Poetry Contest begins September 22. The Pontiac Branch would like to welcome teens to explore various types of poetry and create their own original works to submit.
The poetry contest is open to all students in grades 5 – 12. The theme this year is “Go Green” (environmentally friendly poetry). Contest deadline is November 3.
We have an event calendar that makes it easy to find out what library programs and events are happening near you. From the ACPL Home Page, click on Programs. Choose to narrow down by location, age level or category and check out all the great stuff going on at ACPL.
You’ve asked for it, and now we deliver. This Tuesday, Teen Café will be all about writing. Drop in at 4 pm to engage your five senses (yes, that means food!) and enjoy a writing program you won’t soon forget!
This past Tuesday, Steve from the Summit City Fencing Club visited the Pontiac branch and demonstrated some fencing moves and gear. He also brought enough gear for our young folks to try their hand at fencing. Currently, the Summit City Fencing Club is holding classes and practices across the street at Zion Lutheran Academy (2313 Hanna St.) on Mon, Tues, Wed evenings from 7-9 p.m You’ll find them in the upstairs gym where they have plenty of room for plenty of fencing!
