Read to Piper today!

Don’t forget to stop by and read to Piper during our PAWS to Read program. Piper is here every Thursday from 5pm – 6pm, and he’s begging for you to read to him!

Seen around the Pontiac branch…

From top:

Mr. Charlie takes time out to color with some of our young patrons. Aww!

Piper gives a kiss to one of his favorite readers at our PAWS to Read program (5 pm on Thursdays!).

Young patrons enjoy an afternoon at the library.

(Last 2 pics) Jamarr and Ivan, two of our resident writers, enjoy spending time at the library working on their books.

New VHS tapes at Pontiac

Be sure to check out our recently acquired VHS tapes. Thanks to a donation of nearly 30 tapes, we now have titles such as Amistad, Beloved, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and others available in this format.

We are the recipient of the “We the People Bookshelf” grant!

The Pontiac branch is the recipient of the 2008 We the People Bookshelf on the theme “Created Equal” from the National Endowment for the Arts in conjunction with the American Library Association. The Bookshelf is a collection of 17 books (with 4 books in Spanish) on the “Created Equal” theme. This collection encourages young people to read and understand great literature while exploring themes in American history. Please check out this new collection. It is located on the back side of the shelf that houses our DVD’s, and the shelf faces the large window facing south. Please ask staff for help if you are unable to locate it.
